Giovanni Bez was born in the late 1990s in Val di Zoldo, a small valley in the province of Belluno, Italy. His creative journey began right here, where among the fir trees and barns, he developed a fascination for little-known, marginal stories.
A recent graduate of the ZeLIG School for Documentary (2025), he specializes in author-driven projects and complex post-production workflows. His work as an editor has been featured in international festivals, including Visioni dal Mondo (Milan) and Zlín Film Festival (CZ). As a director, his short film, Bostrico, was selected by the Trento Film Festival (Italy) and EHO Film Festival (North Macedonia).
Giovanni recently supported the post-production process on Helene Kvale’s new documentary, The Loom, serving as an editing intern alongside renowned editors Anne Fabini and Martin Reimers.
He now lives between Berlin, Bolzano, and his original valley, searching for new stories to tell.
